snuffer1 Since some black smoke is always the case when you blow out your candles. Candlemamma needed a new candle snuffer for these wooded wicked candles. She finds it hard to snuff out the wooden wick with her old candle snuffer.  Candlemamma likes her new candle snuffer found easily on line for under ten dollars. You can find one too. Look for even better quality candle snuffers at your neighborhood candle party. Leave the snuffer over the still burning wick for several minutes to eliminate almost all black smoke from your still burning candles.

Candlemamma Soy Candles 2009

Candlemamma Soy Candles 2009

Candlemamma has the answer for her 8 ounce jar container candles. She wasn’t happy with the results from her last testing done for the 8 ounce jar candles. For candlemamma changing the wick was the answer for her. If you want to enjoy candles with less smoke please use your wick snuffer. Remember candlemamma wants you to enjoy candles of all kinds. User preference is the answer to selling candles online and at home. Since a candle user will only be happy with what that candle user prefers, you as a candle maker should always guarantee your candle products after you are done testing. This will help your candle customers and friends believe that your tests are as accurate as you can get them. Candlemaking takes time. A large market for candles prove that testing your candles before you sell is worth the long hours and money you spend on buying materials that you won’t sell online.

As a candle maker I can only help to point all candle makers in the right direction. Do your own candle tests and find out for yourselves just how rewarding candle making can be. Time will tell for you and your candles.

Enjoy candles of all kinds,

Biodegradable and Natural Soy Candles from Candlemamma

Author: Candlemamma

Candlemamma has finished her testing soy wax for her triple scented soy candles. First I want to start with the tea light candle. This biodegradable and all natural soy wax did perform wonderfully for tea light candles. This soy wax has no paraffin wax in it. It is made with all natural ingredients. These soy tea lights burned 9 hours which is normal because the tea light candle is so small. This time will vary when you burn your soy tea light candle. You also have to remember to leave a little wax inside the plastic tea light cup when its time to extinguish your tea light candles. I wanted to make sure to leave 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch of scented wax so that the wick didn’t burn the plastic cup. Always make sure to watch your candles when they are burning. Please don’t leave your house with a candle burning. Keep candles away from drafts and don’t let matches or debris build up inside the candle holder. There is very little, if any black soot, or black wick trimmings, in the left over wax. That is because I rarely trimmed the wicks. This means the biodegradable wax did help the candle mixture and the wick burn properly and more effectively.

Next test, was the triple scented zinc and cotton core wicked soy votive candles. This was a pleasant surprise for Candlemamma. Both wicks performed great. The zinc core wicked soy candle burned for 17 hours which was longer than my highly scented paraffin waxed, zinc core, votive candle by an average of 2 hours. The soy cotton core wicked votive, burned for 19-20 hours which was outstanding for a votive candle. I am so very impressed by how these votive candles burned. Very little candle wax left. At first I really wasn’t sure if the votive candles were going to make the grade. After I let the votive candles burn for several hours I knew this wax had the right stuff. No black or white soot left, very little wick trimming and longer burning time. These votive candles were fantastic. The fragrance was rich and was noticed by friends who visited. Keep in mind most fragrances are a users own preference and some candles fragrances will smell stronger to different individuals. This soy wax will burn at cooler temperatures than paraffin waxed and zinc core wicked candles. This means that if you want a candle to burn longer you will want to check for a cotton core wicked soy candle to enjoy. There is a lot of time and effort that goes into making hand made fragrant candles to sell online and at home. Don’t forget to thank your candle maker for making your scented candles.

Last test, was the 8 ounce triple scented soy waxed, zinc and cotton core, wicked jar candles. Each soy jar candle happily surprised Candemamma. At first the wax burnt unevenly and I really was worried as to the outcome. Just like the soy votive candles, the jar candles out performed my paraffin waxed jar candles. The zinc core wicked candle burned for 31 hours. This is great for an 8 ounce jar candle’s burn time. The cotton core wicked soy candle beat the zinc core wicked candles burn time by 10 hours. This means my tested cotton core wicked 8 ounce jar candle burned for 42 hours. This is fantastic news for you as if you enjoy longer burning candles. Both jar candles left a little wax build up along the sides of the jars. This can be cleaned up easily. Remember this wax is biodegradable. Further testing with a larger cotton core wick might just make the wax build up go way. Candlemamma intends to test this theory. Please remember these are my own personal candle tests. Your candle testing may produce different results.

Soy And Paraffin Candle Mixture – My Test As A Candle Maker

Author: Candlemamma

Candle making and testing candles which are high in fragrances is very rewarding. Since handmade candles are hand crafted, I like to know how these fragrances are going to grab their audience with a huge triple scent. Since, I give candles to family and friends. Several candle lovers live a long distance away. I need to know that these rich fragrances will live up to all expectations where ever the highly fragranced candle goes. This is why testing candles is so important.

Many choices can give a candle maker the edge over others who hand craft just one type of triple scented candles. Knowing this, as a candle maker who enjoys highly scented paraffin waxed candles, making a slow rewarding change to crafting handmade triple scented soy candles can be difficult. It can be done.

I chose to personally test my hand crafted, votive, tealight and jar candles which were triple scented in wonderful rich fragrances. These candles were made from a special blend of paraffin and natural soy wax. Huge in fragrance, wonderful candle oil was used with the awesome aroma of chestnuts and brown sugar. This fragrance is a scent enticer and is wonderful to enjoy in the fall when the leaves have turned their many intriguing colors. I chose the color light green. This is why it is great to be a candle maker who enjoys handcrafting candles. You choose the fragrances high in scent and the color for testing your triple scented candles.

I wanted to see how much black and white soot would be coming from my tested candles which are highly fragranced. I had to watch them constantly and keep them away from drafts. It was fascinating to me how the zinc core wicked candles that I tested stood up to the cotton core wicked candles in my paraffin and soy triple scented candles. No black or white soot is seen from the candles when burning the zinc or cotton core wick. The fragrance coming from the tested candles is reported to me as high as straight paraffin.

Truly remarkable all handmade candles no matter what the fragrance or the candle ingredient they should have the power to please a special and unique audience. This to me shows that the best is coming soon.

Excited Earth Hour Helpers

earth-hour-candles-bestCandlemamma had a rough Earth Hour. Taking care of her grandchildren is always important. Earth Hour started out okay but ended up with the T.V. on and Candlemamma’s candles burning brightly. She tried hard to keep the lights off and electricity down to just the essentials for one hour on Saturday March 28,2009. I love my small grandchildren and my candles. It was difficult for my family to keep non essential power off during Earth Hour. Families must do the best that they can to adapt in situtations like Earth Hour. Safety for your smaller children should always be first. As care takers we must make sure that situations are made calm and safe. Children have to be both healthy and happy. Children will grow. They will learn about climate control. School will teach. I see my grandchildren growing smarter everyday. I am very proud of them. read more about this

New Votive Candle Packaging

New Votive Candle Packaging

Recently candlemamma has had alot of inquiries as to many shipping hazards which can happen when shipping candles using the Post office.  Shipping hazards mean candles are being broken and mishandled during the shipping process. This can be due to many unforeseen problems. Candlemamma is not causing for alarm, she is aware of the problem and wanted to find a better way to package votive candles. Candlemamma has finished her testing on soy wax for  triple scented votive candles. Waiting for the initial soy wax to be sent to her and getting the test results tallied is holding candlemamma back. I am very proud of the test results from this wax. Soy votive candles are more delicate than paraffin candles.
New packaging is something that Candlemamma knows that every candlemaker needs. This type of packaging will help with  soy and paraffin fragranced votive candles staym fresher longer.
The new packaging can be simple yet will be more effective for friends who enjoy  votive candles.

Candlemamma is so proud to hand craft highly scented soy candles. Impressed with her new soy wax she decided to make her two grandsons triple scented container candles from the new soy wax. These candles will be used for Earth Hour, Saturday March 28 2009 at 8:30 P.M. Please remember to shut off all electricity that you really don’t need and enjoy the glow of candle light from 8:30 P.M. until 9:30 P.M.
The candles in these two containers were made with her new natural soy wax, highly fragrant Black Cherry candle oil, color chips made for use in candles, and cotton core wicks.
The glass jars are old Wheaton containers. I knew they would be used to make fabulous highly fragrant jar candles someday. Candlemamma’s two grandsons will be thrilled to sit in the dark watching the candle wicks flicker with light. The fragrance will fill the air and those boys will be very happy.
Candles are a very important ray of light used in my life. I hope you can enjoy them also.

Most of candlemamma’s scented candle ideas evolve around her grand children. Crafting scented candles is in no way fancy or used to impress. For candlemamma, she enjoys things very simple. Earth Hour is no exception. Earth hour will be fun and simple for my family. We will turn off the lights for one hour in the evening of March 28 at 8:30 P.M. to enjoy candlemamma’s scented candles glow in the dark. Enjoying the wonderful aroma of each candle and discussing ways we can help save needed electricity is what we will be doing during Earth Hour. These tea cups were crafted with a new soy wax, highly fragrant Dreamer fragrance oil, color chips, and cotton core wicks by candlemamma with love for her grand daughter to share with her. It makes life worth living knowing that I have hand crafted highly fragranced candles for friends and family to enjoy during special occasions like Earth Hour.
